The Jamaica Teachers’ Association takes note of recent utterances by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information regarding booklists relating to the Primary Exit Profile( PEP).

School administrators and teachers are being reportedly blamed for the dilemma being faced by parents who would have purchased these books which were on the Ministry’s approved lists for  2018 - 2019.

The Jamaica Teachers’ Association is therefore deeply concerned about the reported widespread confusion in the system and calls on the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information to immediately take corrective action to allay the fears of school administrators, teachers and parents.

The JTA has made its own checks across the system which revealed that, for the most part, school administrators and teachers issued booklists to parents based on the Ministry’s approved lists.

As a critical partner in the education process, the Association stands ready to have the matter resolved expeditiously and in the best interest of our students.
